The opening ceremony of the 24th Egmont Group Plenary Meeting was held on 6th July 2017 (Thursday) at Conrad Macao Hotel, with the Macao Financial Intelligence Office (GIF) being the organizer of this meeting. The Egmont Group is a united body of Financial Intelligence Units around the world, which aims to facilitate the exchange of intelligence and cooperation among its members in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing. The Egmont Group has more than 150 members FIUs. This is the first time the Egmont Group Plenary Meeting was held in Macao. More than 350 delegates from 110 plus member financial intelligence units (FIU), together with delegates from international organizations and other observers, gather in Macao to discuss anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) issues of common interest and share experiences in FIU matters.
